Midwest runs public excursions from June through October. Revenue generated from our excursions is used to purchase materials and equipment for restoration projects as well as keep the overall organization operating.
All excursions are run in cooperation with the Wheeling & Lake Erie Railroad.
Excursions vary from 20-minute rides to full-day trips to special, non-public events. Information on tickets, pricing, boarding/return times, accommodations and other items is specific to the event and will be posted on this site.
Our general excursion policies are as follows:
- Boarding times are generally 15-30 minutes prior to departure.
- Boarding times are prompt. Departures CANNOT be held for late arrivers.
- No alcohol or smoking of any kind is permitted on MRPS equipment.
- For safety reasons, there may be age or other restrictions on the areas where guests can ride on a coach. The car attendant will inform you of any restrictions on boarding.
- Depending on equipment, food and drink may or may not be brought on board.
- All trips run rain or shine.
- If brought on board, baby strollers, walkers, and other equipment must be stowable so that coach aisles or exits are not blocked.
- Ticket sales are final unless the trip is cancelled by MRPS.
- Our vintage equipment is NOT ADA accessible. Guests with disabilities should call first to make sure the trip and accommodations are appropriate.
- All guests are expected to comply with safety regulations at all times, including when they are boarding or deboarding the train.
