As you may have noticed, Midwest has recently changed the date of its' June open house to Saturday June 29th and Sunday June 30th. This was done to coincide with Cleveland History Days events that will take place throughout the Cleveland area and in conjunction with the Towpath Trail that overlooks the Historic B&O Roundhouse.
Cleveland History Days kicks off on Friday June 21st with the Burning River Fest at the old Coast Guard Station on Whiskey Island and will conclude with the closing ceremonies on Sunday June 30th. There are a variety of events and activities planned for the duration of the event that include the 40th annual Tri-C Jazzfest, Blazing Paddles on the Cuyahoga River, Author's Night at the Music Box Supper Club, a program about the 1995 Cleveland Indians at the Baseball Heritage Museum at League Park, walking tours and bike tours throughout the downtown area and of course our two open houses at MRPS. The complete list of events is too long to list here and many details are still being ironed out, but we are pleased to join with the Canalways Partners and the Towpath Trail to become part of this great event.
Midwest Executive Director Steve Korpos and Trustee Ken Yandek met with the Cleveland History Days committee recently during a planning session and both are excited about the added exposure and possible future opportunities the participation in this event will afford the organization. There is a lot of planning to be done on our part to get ready for the larger crowds that may attend these two open houses and to ensure that everything goes smoothly with all that attend leaving with a positive impression of Midwest.
More information will be coming in future newsletters and you can check out social media for the complete schedule of events as Cleveland History Days draws closer.
