Spotlight on Midwest

While the donation of the "America" business car is our highlight story of the month, there was an exciting occurrence at the roundhouse on May 22nd. MRPS was visited by Laura DeMarco of the Plain Dealer, Alexa Lee of WKYC TV and videographer Raquel Hagman, also of WKYC TV.

The three were at Midwest to film a segment for a joint project that is scheduled to be aired on channel 3 sometime in June in conjunction with Cleveland History Days. Pieces were filmed in various locations in the railyard, in Mt. Baxter and also in the "Death Car", Nickel Plate Number 62. They were warned to look closely when editing the videos because there could be people in them that they didn't see.

When filming concluded in the cars, Ms. Lee was treated to a ride on our Alco RS3, number 123. Engineer Bud Ramkey let her take control of the throttle for part of the ride, a thrill she definitely was not expecting.

Besides their visit to Midwest, they had previously visited the Variety Theater and the Buckland Museum of Witchcraft earlier in the day. In Ms. DeMarco's own words, "It was a great, and a bit spooky day!".
